Heitkamp tours TrainND Northwest in Williston

U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today toured TrainND Northwest, a job-training facility that helps keep the state strong by preparing North Dakotans with the skills they need to get good-paying jobs in the energy industry, manufacturing, agriculture, and beyond. NW Career Expo attracts Hundreds of Students

Some students know what they want to be when they grow up from the time they're a kid. Others need a little time to figure it out. Area sophomore and junior high school students who attended the Northwest Career Expo on the Williston State College campus, were able to examine vehicles and equipment used by emergency personnel, tale a look at an AS350 helicopter and much more.Read More

Halliburton donates Tools to WSC Petroleum Department

News Release
Halliburton donated an estimated $42K in oilfield tools to WSC.
Five Halliburton tools worth an estimated $42,000 dollars were donated to WSC's Petroleum Department late last semester. Welding students under the direction of Tim Delorme, WSC's Welding Instructor have built a display for the tools. Andrew Eis, Halliburton's District Service Manager for Completion Tools, provided Gerald McGillivray, WSC's Petroleum Technology Instructor, with the background of each tool donated. Read More

Grimshaw promoted to West Region President of CHI St. Alexius Health

Sport and Rec Show March 17-19

The Archery Alley will return to the Kid Zone with the North Dakota Bow Hunters Association. Williston CVB
The 32nd Annual Sport & Recreation Show will be held at the Raymond Family Community Center March 17-19. The show is produced by the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) each year as a fundraiser. Proceeds benefit the Williston Police Department, community events and event equipment. This year the show will feature the newest models of boats, RVs, ATVs, grills, motorcycles and spas plus custom made fishing poles, hunting trips, photography services and much more. The show runs Friday from 1-8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Williston to host National Curling Tournament March 18-25; Opening Ceremony Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Williston Basin Curling Club will host a national curling tournament this month in Williston. The community is invited to take in the action.
The top 10 mixed teams will head to North Dakota for the start of the 2017 USA Curling Mixed National Championship this weekend.  The four-sheet Williston-Basin Curling Club is the host for the weeklong championship featuring regional teams of four (two men, two women per rink). The winning team will represent the U.S. at the 2017 World Mixed Championship Oct. 6-14 in Champery, Switzerland.   An opening ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. CDT Saturday followed by the first draw of competition at 3:30 p.m. Read More

Renaissance On Main (ROM) is marking its one year anniversary on Wednesday, March 22 from 6-8 p.m.
ROM opened its doors spring 2016, bringing a stylish new face to Main Street in Downtown Williston. McKenzie County Law Enforcement Center Ribbon Cutting March 31

The ribbon cutting and tours will be held on March 22 at 12 p.m. followed by a light lunch and tours at 12:30 p.m.
The community is invited to the McKenzie County Law Enforcement Center ribbon cutting at its new facility. The 94,080 square foot facility is a new combined Law Enforcement Center for the McKenzie County Sheriff's Department, the Watford City Police Department and the McKenzie County Correctional Facility. The $57 million project and has remained on schedule with inmates expected to arrive this spring. Florida Company proposes Wind Farm in Burke County

NextEra Energy Resources develops, constructs and operates energy infrastructure.
North America's largest wind energy generator wants to expand its holdings in North Dakota. NextEra Energy Resources held an open house in Bowbells Thursday to introduce Burke County residents to a proposed wind farm project. If the project is built, 89 wind generators will dot the landscape in an area running from southwest of Bowbells along the Coteau hills to the Divide County line. Dan Labate, wind energy analyst for the Florida-based company, said they have been doing measurements in the area since last June. "You have very impressive winds," he said. Dickinson Retailers launch Shop Local Campaign; Think before you Click


Online shopping is doing a number on local businesses. According to the office of the state tax commissioner, for the first time in three years, sales taxes collected did not reach one billion dollars. A campaign in Dickinson is hoping to encourage shoppers to get out and shop locally. The "Thank you for shopping locally" campaign is just that. Business owners want to thank and encourage you to shop locally. Not only because it can help their businesses, but also the cities you live in. "Your dollars are leaving the community," said Peggy O'Brien, general manager of Prairie Hills Mall. She said online stores like Amazon are hurting the local brick and mortars. Bismarck-Mandan Development Assoc to shift Recruitment Efforts

The Bismarck-Mandan Development Association is changing how it lures new companies to the community and plans to focus its recruitment efforts on industries it considers appropriate to the local market. The association presented results of a target industry analysis study during its annual meeting Feb. 28, the Bismarck Tribune (http://bit.ly/2mKow7X ) reported. The industries the study identified are manufacturing, value-added agriculture and energy. It suggested the association should target smaller companies that could provide services or build parts that bigger companies need. Read More
