API honors OpWorks, XTO, TrainND and Eslinger
The Williston Basin API
recognized four groups and individuals for their achievements in relation to the oil and gas industry. The following were honored with 2016 Williston API Achievement Awards: OpWorks, Industry Innovation award; XTO Energy, Community Service award; TrainND Northwest, Outstanding Achievement Group award; and Brent Eslinger, Outstanding Achievement Individual award. The API's next meeting is Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening and dedication of theWilliston Fire Department's Fire Station 2 and Training Tower
on Monday, Nov. 28 at 10:30 a.m. The two facilities are located at 610 58th Street West. Fire station 2 is Williston's first substation which was built to better serve and protect the growing community. The 4,000 square foot training facility is able to provide all types of training exercises for the 50-plus full-time and 30-plus volunteer firefighters in Williston. A second substation is under construction at the corner of 37th Street West and 32nd Avenue West near the new Williston High School.
Specialty Bedding Store to open in Williston Nov. 19

A new specialty bedding store is coming to Williston. Mattress Firm will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Sand Creek Town Centre.
Mattress firm is a national chain with more than 3,000 stores. The Williston location is the seventh to open in North Dakota within two years. Jason Sellers is the co-owner of the North Dakota franchise. He and his business partners also have three stores in Bismarck, two in Minot and one in Dickinson.

WSC Foundation celebrates Ribbon Cutting at New Location

The Willliston Area Chamber of Commerce helped the Williston State
celebrate its ribbon cutting and open house at its new location Nov. 15. The WSCF is a nonprofit agency that manages donations given to the college. The foundation's new location is 721 East Highland Drive Suite E. The new space houses the following WSCF employees: Terry Olson, executive director; Hunter Berg, director for alumni relations & athletics; Carmin Klein, associate director; and Kim Gratz, office manager.
Salvation Army to try New Methods for delivering 2016 Holiday Programs

hosting a sit-down meal on Thanksgiving Day, the organization will focus its efforts on distributing Thanksgiving food items from its pantry. This will enable people to make a Thanksgiving dinner for their families from the comfort of their own home. Read More

Veeder retires from Economic Development; takes on New Elected Role

After a quarter-century in local economic development, Gene Veeder says he's seen the best and worst of times in Watford City. From the empty storefronts and loss of retail in the early 1990s to the surge of the late 2000s' oil boom, the retiring executive director of McKenzie County's job development authority said what he learned early on helped him in his later years. "You build up your community in the good times because there will be times when you just have to keep struggling to keep things going but a lot of our initiative started when things were pretty tough around here," Veeder said. Minot Development Foundation to gauge interest in Potential Technical School

Minot-area businesses will soon have a chance to weigh in on the future of a potential post-secondary technical education center. The Minot Area Chamber of Commerce and Minot Area Development Corp. plan to circulate a survey to members to seek input of the city's National Disaster Resilience Program.
